This week, MidwestBride features 6 different engagement photo sessions from all around the Midwest.
Let’s get it started with Laura and Brian. They met randomly in the streets of Detroit as Laura was carrying a box with a ton of things hanging off of her arms as she struggled to cross the street to her church. Well across the way the handsome Brian was at the street light waiting to cross as he saw the struggling Laura making her way. Brian quickly ran up to Laura and asked if he could help her (because obviously when you see a cute girl you want to do what you can to sweep in), sadly Laura pushed his offer aside to be that strong woman and let him know she could handle it herself. Long story short, months go by, they chat here and there, they sit together in church, but nothing more than friends. Eventually down the road things began to get a little more serious and the two started to pursue each other, fast forwarding to the old bookstore in downtown Detroit when things really take a turn for the better. One night as they were having one of their cute and quirky dates at the old bookstore, the two chatted and expressed their intentions for each other. They knew this wasn’t just a boyfriend/girlfriend type of thing where they will break up in a year, but these intentions were I want to be with you forever. So with a heart for Detroit and the old bookstore beginning their journey, they chose to document their engagement photos around some of their favorite places in the city with one of them being the old bookstore. Next also in Michigan, Arden and Jeremiah photographed by Sarah and Rachel who said: “Arden has a love for simplicity, the beach and that organic feeling I love. She has a genuine soul and a contagious energy that you just want to be around. Arden and Jeremiah are working with the ultra talented Rhiannon with Hey Gorgeous Events for their wedding day next August at The Blue Dress Barn in West Michigan. It’s going to be such an amazing event! We decided on an intimate engagement setting on the West side of Michigan to capture their love and playful relationship. These two are a joy to be around!”
Mike and Abbey are featured next. After growing up and getting engaged in the suburbs of Chicago, these two have started their adventure in New York City. On one of their whirlwind trips back home for wedding planning we were able to meet to capture engagement photos and celebrate this special time leading up to “I do, forever.”
The Naperville Riverwalk is quintessential Midwest charm – a perfect blend of old and new, nature and an urban appeal, gracious people and a vibrant community. It served as the perfect backdrop to tell Abbey and Mike’s love story – especially because it’s where Mike got down on one knee and asked his best friend to do life together. Laced Photography photographed Taylor and Brent at the Missouri State Fairgrounds. These two have known each other their entire lives and became sweethearts in high school. They spent their summers showing pigs and attending livestock shows all over the country. This particular location in Sedalia, MO has become a special place for them over the years, as they shared many walks and life talks around the grounds.
Beth and Drew are both from small towns in the Midwest. They met in Saint Louis and fell in love before Drew got the opportunity to take a job in Chicago. Beth agreed to move with him, where he immediately bought a ring and proposed so they could begin their new life together in the big city. They were married in Beth’s small hometown of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, but wanted to have a shoot in Chicago, where they truly started their lives and spent their engagement. Photographer A Moment’s Focus says about her session with Kelsey and Nick: “It’s an incredible thing to experience the kind of love that brings two souls together. To be able to feel the connection among two hearts. And to witness the joy that surrounds two people ready to share a life together. Every day that I am lucky enough to pick up my camera and capture these moments is an absolute blessing.Kelsey and Nick were a dream couple to work with during their engagement session earlier this month. Not only are they a gorgeous couple, but they were so fun to be around! Their natural and authentic affection left us with some of the most breathtaking images. The location for our session was amidst some stunning botanical gardens in Milwaukee, WI. And despite it being 90 plus degrees outside, you would never know it! As we made our way through the gardens, I just knew that we had to “stop and smell the roses” when we came to the rose garden area. The breathtaking views inside the rose garden were the perfect place to pause and appreciate this moment for everything it was. As the sun began to set, we were gifted that always incredible golden light to end this perfect engagement session!Walking away from this shoot there was one thing I was absolutely certain of… that this day was only the beginning of a beautiful love story.”
