Today’s art deco St Louis wedding is simply divine. Inspired by glitz, glamour, and old world flair Krystal and Dave had a wedding day full of love and details. More from the photographer Shelly Goodman, “Classic, yet modern. Sophisticated, yet simple. I loved that Krystal and Dave prioritized a fun, easy-going atmosphere for their wedding day and yet pulled off such a beautifully elegant style. The Magnolia Hotel was the perfect setting for their day – huge antique chandeliers & mirrors, marble floors, stately columns, old brass fixtures, modern leather furniture, and a lit-up cocktail bar.”
“We wanted a downtown wedding, and Dave loves historic buildings, so it worked out perfectly that the Magnolia Hotel (formerly the Mayfair hotel) had been recently renovated in a modern boutique style while still keeping the elegant historical architectural details. We really liked how that modern yet vintage twist of the hotel embodied the whole vibe of our wedding day – classic, yet modern.
When we started planning our wedding, we knew that we really just wanted our wedding to be fun, and that’s exactly what happened. November weather in the Midwest can be a gamble and usually so chilly it feels more like winter than fall, but we lucked out with a beautiful overcast 60-degree day which allowed for lots of outdoor portraits. I wanted the old historic St. Louis architecture and that downtown urban feel to be the backdrop of our photos. And just around the corner from the hotel was a city courtyard that still had a lot of fall color left despite the fact that it was mid-November. We lucked out again with the surprise of some gorgeous red berries creating a unique canopy walkway. The perfect weather only heightened the happy mood the entire day!
If I had to pick my favorite moment of my wedding day, it would be the dancing. (Like I said, fun was a major priority!) All of my family was out on the dance floor – young and old alike. It really showed that everyone wanted to have a good time, and it was exciting to see all of our friends and family doing just that!” – Krystal, the lovely bride
