We have been swooning over this classic wedding with a tropical twist since it hit our inbox. The couple was wed on the fourth of July and planned a fun twist in the decor for the reception that you have to see with your own eyes! Their vision for the wedding was if Kate Spade and Lily Pulitzer were best friends. The bride donned the dreamiest blush wedding gown with an exquisite veil – a true princess. The bride (Cassandra) is an extremely talented wedding planner and coordinator, she overlooked no detail when planning her own nuptials. They even left little messages to guests on the escort cards and they might be our favorite escort cards ever. Enjoy!
Although we reside in Toledo, Ohio we decided to host our wedding in our states capital- Columbus, where we had lived for several years together after college. During our college years, we bonded as a couple by the social events we were involved with as part of our respective fraternities and sororities. As it turns out, our romance started in the summer, so when it came time to decide the date for our big day, we chose the 4th of July. I chose to wear a Lazaro gown with a unique peplum body and organza detailing, while the groom picked a classic navy tux. Those closest to us know that we both tend to favor more preppy styles with eclectic elements from time to time and we included those elements in our reception decor. For the reception décor we wanted to throw everyone a curve ball as to whether we would be sticking with the “Fourth of July” theme or not. All of our pre wedding items including our engagement photos, RSVPs, and wedding website stuck to one of our favorites, a classic Navy and White color scheme. When the guests arrived they were greeted by a whimsical feel and shades of pink, gold, champagne, and navy. The lush floral arrangements included palm leaves, hydrangeas, ranunculus, and more. Gold painted flamingos, napkins styled to look like bows, and coral figurines embellished the guest tables, along with a mix of champagne sequin or striped navy and white table linens. For a unique way to let our guests know we truly thought of each and every one of them- we custom made our escort cards to include various sayings such as “See you on the dance floor, Marissa” or “Love your dress, Kellie.” The head table sat in front of a floor-to-ceiling wall of windows with the Columbus city skyline as the backdrop. A three-foot pink monogram display in front of the head tables perfectly pulled it all together. When my bridesmaids asked what I had envisioned for the wedding, I told them I want it to look as if Lilly Pulitzer and Kate Spade were best friends and planned this for me! If there was one element that showcased that beautiful, imaginary union, it was our wedding cake. The four tiered cake, designed by The End Dessert Company, included two hand painted layers of a Lilly Pulitzer print with palm leaves and the top layer featured polka dots and a huge pink fondant bow. The top was adorned with a hand crafted Flamingo topper by BHLDN. We danced the night away surrounded by our loved ones! It was a magical day and we can’t wait to celebrate for years to come.” Cassandra Clair (bride and planner)
