Today we are sharing a Columbia MO wedding at one of our favorite Columbia venues, the Firestone Baars Chapel. We love the elegant sage green and white color palette, so perfect for a spring wedding. The University of Missouri and Columbia College campuses were the loveliest backdrop for wedding day photos!
Sam and I met at a housewarming party in Columbia, MO through our friend (and one of my bridesmaids), Natalie, in 2008. The first thing I remember about Sam was that he is very creative- at the party, he showed me a potpourri dish he had made out of the old bamboo blinds in his bathroom! We started dating that Fall, and continued dating throughout undergrad and medical school, both at the University of Missouri.Sam proposed to me at his family lake house at Table Rock Lake after we took our first medical licensing examination in Springfield. He cooked me pancakes and eggs for breakfast and put photographs of us all around the screened-in porch where his family loves to spend time together. He told me that he wanted to propose in the morning because that is when you make the clearest and best decisions. It was intimate, romantic, and absolutely perfect. Our wedding took place in Columbia because our immediate families and friends all live in Missouri, and we have spent our entire relationship so far living in this wonderful town. The entire day was a whirlwind of excitement, nerves, and pure joy! My bridesmaids, mom, mother-in-law, and I spent the morning with the wonderful ladies at The Clip Joint getting our hair and makeup done. My bridesmaids each picked out their own dresses, all in shades of green. They looked stunning. Sam and I had our First Look at my parents’ house- they have a gorgeous backyard, and we have so many memories there. For our wedding gifts, we gave each other framed, handwritten notes of our favorite memories together. Then, we headed off to Stephen’s College campus for the ceremony in Firestone Baars Chapel! At our ceremony, a group of our closest friends from choir at Mizzou performed “The Gift of Love”- I overwhelmed with love and emotion by their performance. The cocktail hour and reception took place at the Courtyard Marriott, where my family and friends had transformed the ballroom into an indoor garden with beautiful green and champagne centerpieces, wrought-iron trees from Alan-Anderson’s Just Fabulous, and ethereal accents throughout the space. After a delicious buffet-style dinner, Sam and I took to the dance floor and performed our First Dance, choreographed by Ashley Mayer at Studio B Dance Center. After the Father-Daughter and Mother-Son dances, we spent the rest of the evening bouncing between the dance floor and the photo booth, both provided by Complete Music. As one of our guests pointed out, everyone had smiles on their faces and had a fantastic time. We were so thankful to be able to celebrate our BEST DAY EVER with our family and friends!!
