Nicole and Derek shared a 9th Street Abbey wedding in the historical area of Soulard. The gorgeous venue was home to both the ceremony and the reception, it also features a dreamy courtyard area.
On my two hour drive from Columbia to St. Louis to shoot Nicole & Derek’s wedding, I at one point worried I might run off the road from the intense amount of rain falling. As I approached the Crown Plaza in downtown St. Louis the rain began to slow. Halfway through the girls getting ready the rain seemed to come to a stop. Inside the hotel room, all the bridesmaids were running around in beautiful robes Nicole had purchased for them. The atmosphere was full of excitement but with an edge of calmness. No worries about running late or misplaced items. Everything was running smoothly. Nicole & Derek met for a “first look” in front of the 9th Street Abbey that would be the home to both their ceremony and reception. Many of the pictures were shot before, however, there were still mild interruptions due to rain. 9th Street Abbey has a beautiful court-yard on the side where guests grabbed cocktails after the ceremony while the Abbey’s staff changed the look of the venue for the party’s reception. Such an elegant and classic affair, was Nicole & Derek’s wedding. So much love. So much happiness. So much their own, unique, fairy tale wedding. – Courtney Tompson
