We feel all warm and fuzzy inside when think about today’s high school sweethearts wedding. They even went back to their old high school stomping grounds for a few pictures.
As high school sweethearts, Jordan and I knew we wanted to celebrate the love that had grown between us in our hometown. We wanted our guests to understand where we came from, how/where we fell in love, and what was most important to us as a couple. We provided our guests with small welcome gifts at the hotel that included a list of all of the fun places we used to visit when we first started dating, so they had something to do in their free time during the weekend. We used our table numbers to tell the story of our love, by explaining how each number was significant to us. I had always envisioned an elegant and romantic wedding with a lot of candles. I also LOVE pearls, so we found a bunch of mercury glass candle holders and vases, embellished with pearls and rhinestones, to decorate our tables. We were so happy to share our special day with the people we love the most. We look up to our parents and grandparents for showing us how to love unconditionally. We displayed our parents and grandparents’ wedding photos at the reception. I used one of my grandma’s old brooches as part of my bouquet. I also had my seamstress sew a heart cut-out from one of my dad’s jean shirts on the inside of my dress. For good luck, I had a penny in my shoe that was made in the year my parents got married (my sister had the same one in her shoe on her wedding day, and our daughters/granddaughters will also use the same one someday). One of the best parts of our day was when our high school choir director let us into the high school so that we could do a quick photoshoot, where it all began. It was so fun to reminisce and take pictures where we had made so many memories. We’re so glad our small high school crushes turned into something so wonderful. We’re grateful for all of the love and support we’ve received from our friends and families along the way and can’t thank our photographer and videographer enough for capturing all of the little moments on our big day. – the lovely bride, Stephanie
