Keeping it classic today with this beautiful Columbia MO wedding. Erin and John chose a neutral and elegant color palette of champagne and gold tones for their wedding. Enjoy these beautiful photos by Catherine Rhodes Photography!
It was important to both of us that our wedding day be special, but laid-back. We wanted the experience to feel elegant, yet undone. We selected a neutral color scheme of gold, ivory and champagne to compliment the beautiful array of colors present during the Mid-Missouri fall season. We sprinkled a dusty blue color and plenty of old barn wood throughout the decor as well. I enjoy craft projects in general and had a lot of fun making vintage-looking signs, hand-stamping our table numbers, menus and programs. We chose John’s family church in Taos, MO for our ceremony location because it is the church John grew up in. We decided to let the beauty of the church shine and sprinkled a few candles here and there, but did not add any other decorations. When the church was full of friends and family on our wedding day it felt cozy and intimate, exactly what we had hoped for.For the reception we had several items that we knew we wanted to both entertain our guests and ourselves. Live music was paramount for us. We selected a live, local band from Jefferson City to play at our reception in lieu of a DJ. We also wanted to serve our guests a delicious meal. Hoss’ Market & Rotiserie served up carved smoked prime rib, salmon, roasted vegetables and mashed potatoes. In the desserts department, we wanted to go a non-traditional route and serve cake, pie and cookies. We enlisted Chez Monet to create a simple cake layered with almond and carrot. HyVee crafted some southern-style pies for us and I made a few batches of a favorite family cookie recipe. Our florist and photographer made our entire day come together beautifully. Addie Jane’s Originals was exceptional. Eva saved us so much money and time; we asked our florist to simply cut our flowers and plop them into our centerpieces, without much formal arranging. The photos from Catherine Rhodes Photography simply speak for themselves. Catherine and her staff are thorough and discreet; you hardly know you’re being photographed at all, yet they were right there to capture the most intimate moments. We both agree that our wedding day felt like a big, important moment, but that we both also felt so comfortable and relaxed. Some of our favorite memories include a pre-wedding tailgate that John’s uncle had set up outside the church, hearing John’s older brother sing for us during our ceremony, sharing the trolley ride and a few beers at a local Irish Pub with our attendants prior to the reception, taking photos on Francis Quadrangle at Mizzou, enjoying fantastic live music and watching everyone around us have as much fun as we were having!
