Although you probably won’t find many flamingos in the Midwest, we couldn’t pass up this Scarlet Flamingo Wedding Inspiration. We love the flamingo plates that inspired the entire shoot and all the colorful details!
“Often, the theme for a wedding will be inspired by the dress, a floral arrangement, a couple’s favorite hobby or even a season. But for our Cleveland, OH based team of designers, we took inspiration in a small, but beautiful dessert plate from Anthropologie featuring two interlocking flamingos. Flamingos are known to form strong bonds between one male and one female, and take great care in building and defending their nest. We thought this was a fitting analogy for our beautiful young couple embracing their new life together. Thus the scarlet Flamingo plate, which features a gold scalloped edge and blue thistle, set the stage for a romantic and whimsical shoot at Huntington Reservation on the shores of Lake Erie. Photographed at sunset by Brittany Graham and styled by Twig Florals and Anchor Events & Design, we created our own “nest” with an intimate king’s table set for the love birds and their guests. Twig Florals created gorgeous arrangements featuring dahlias, garden roses, zinnias, Queen Anne’s lace, blue thistle, fern, and unexpected but beautiful blush maranta leaves in antique gold and brass vessels. A DIY runner, stitched together with the blush maranta leaves, anchored the table which was set with gold beaded glass charges, Juliska wine goblets, and white and coral napkins. The bride, was resplendent in a gorgeous tulle a-line dress with a ruched bodice from Demetrios. In an effort to show off her elegant neckline, hair designers at Lather Salon in Rocky River styled the bride’s hair in a windswept up-do secured with blue thistle. To embrace the custom of having “something new” and “something blue,” the groom dressed up his black suit with a polkadot tie and blue socks from J-CREW. The invitation suite while simple in design, did not shy away from color. With punches of coral and gold, TING played up the blue thistle while paying homage to the couple’s monogram. Guests were escorted to their seats after finding their name and table number etched in gold on a blush maranta leaf. The bride, who did not hesitate to wear coral and gold Kate Spade heals, frolicked joyfully in the meadow with her groom, while guests enjoyed refreshing glasses of rose with flamingo stirring rods, watermelon cakes, champagne popsicles, and of course, the Sweet Melissa buttercream naked cake topped with a motif of fresh flowers designed by Twig Florals. Like birds of a feather, this couple showed us how sweet it is to stick together!” – Brittany Graham Photography
