We are loving today’s sweet Indianapolis wedding, that featured dueling pianos at the reception – how fun is that?!
“When the man of your dreams proposes and slips that beautiful diamond ring onto your finger, you become the blushing bride-to-be with one major to do list. And that’s the truth ladies, plain and simple. For me, however, it was the most exhilarating to do list I’d ever attempted, and I utterly enjoyed every moment spent planning our June 6th nuptials. I was THAT bride.
As close friends will tell you, I’d been planning my wedding for years. In my head, I had already selected the gown I’d wear to say, “I do” in, the flowers that would make lovely arrangements, the season I wanted to become a bride in, the song I’d dance to my husband with, and how I’d style my hair for the BIG day. Then I got engaged to my very own Prince Charming and all of that “planning” went out the window, and I started over from scratch, and the help of a little thing called Pinterest.
The most important thing to my husband and I was that everything be centrally located for our friends and family. Seeing how most guests traveled far and wide for our wedding weekend, we didn’t want to inconvenience them further with having to travel all across Indianapolis to be a part of our special day. When we decided to have both our ceremony and reception downtown, it significantly narrowed our search for the perfect venue. I knew I wanted something that reflected our laid back, casual style, but yet still embodied the hustle and bustle of Indianapolis. A friend suggested I look into The Mavris and when I did, I knew immediately it was where we’d exchange vows. It was perfect. And most importantly, it was us.
From that point on, I began checking item, after item, after item off my bridal to do list. Thanks to many late evenings spent on Pinterest and flipping through the stacks of bridal magazines I’d collected, I knew I wanted our wedding to embody the theme of shabby chic romantic. The colors I chose matched this theme having varying shades of blush, with gold and ivory accents. Everything from our save the dates to the earrings I wore to the flowers in my bouquet matched this theme I’d envisioned for our day.
But at the end of the day, it wasn’t about all of the time consuming details, the planning fiascos, or the hours spent creating table assignments for our beloved guests, it was about the love between my husband and I and declaring that love in front of those we hold so close and dear. That is what I remember most from our wedding, all the emotions I felt. Standing nervously at the top of a staircase waiting for our wedding planner to tell me it was time to make my grand entrance down the aisle that would lead to my eagerly awaiting groom. The overwhelming sense of joy that our family and friends showered us with in celebration of us tying the knot. The tears of happiness my parents had when they gave me away. The butterflies I felt waiting for Peter to see me for our first look. The laughs of my closest girlfriends when we took a stroll down memory lane in the bridal suite where we were getting pampered. Being utterly smitten and deliriously in love with my husband, as we danced the night away to our dueling pianos.” – Danielle (the lovely bride)
